Hurricane? Tornado?

Talk about a turn of events when a 100k/hr shearing wind blew into the middle of Chestermere’s Water Festival….and putting an early end to our Waterski and Wakeboard Alberta Provincial Championships.

In the middle of Dagen’s run, the sky turned black and the craziest sheering wind blew through the Chestermere Water Festival - prompting thousands of people to flee the park, knocking over portapotties, sending water tools and mini donuts flying through the air. Dagen had to be pulled onto the seadoo and it took a small army of people to hold the boat away from the cement pier to offload the judges before getting the boats out of the water. Provincials were cancelled and we were BUMMED.

Ryder and his mentor and fellow Phase 5 Team Rider Isaac Hockley were set to go head to head for the first time and their rivalry was put on ice. That is until we decided to hold our own competition back home at our lake - where there was no wind and no shortage of people ready to judge the Tie Lake Throw Down. Loser had to drink a beverage out of Dagen’s dirty swimshorts.

As you can see from the photo…Ryder took the championship with a sweet run and solid two passes and Isaac made good on the bet!
