Canadian Nationals

WOW! How good did that feel? Finally, after a full season without any live events, we were stoked to participate in the #WakeCanada 2020 Canadian Wakesurf National Championships. Held on the shores of Lake Okanagan near Vernon, it was a perfect venue for the event. The air was still thick with wildfire smoke, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of all the riders. Ryder competed in the Men’s Professional Division for the first time, while Dagen was in the Youth Boys Division - which combines surf and skim style for any riders aged 13-17.

A huge thank you to the sponsors and the event organizers. All the volunteers pulled together to make this a great event, even though we still had strict protocols due to the pandemic. The extra work and planning that went into pulling this off, with very little advanced notice due to the ever-changing pandemic rules, was unbelievable and we are so grateful.

As an added bonus, we were able to see our good friends and were stoked to learn that the comp run was not only being held on their lake, but that the far buoy was literally out from their dock. Oh Canada, how great thou art!

Ryder had the run of his life - laying down an unreal first pass that included a huge 3 shuv, super clean 5 big and slick 5 shuv. WHAT A RUN! He had stepped up a division to the Men’s Pro Skim, and he laid it down on his way to his first pro podium finish - in FIRST PLACE! Congrats Ryder!!

Dagen came out of the gates aggressive…and while he didn’t have his best personal run, he still laid it down landing several big tricks including his signature kicked out air. He ended the event with a second place finish and the SILVER MEDAL! So stoked for you Dagen.

Congrats to all the riders who competed - due to travel restrictions, this was the first fully Canadian event and it was so cool to be a part of it!
